About Alt Pro Expo (formerly USA CBD Expo)
Originally launched as USA CBD Expo, the event has evolved alongside the broader hemp-derived product industry. The 2021 rebrand to Alternative Products Expo reflected a fundamental shift in what attendees were actually selling and buying: not just CBD, but a much wider range of alternative consumer products that exist in regulatory gray zones.
Expanded Product Categories
Today's Alt Pro Expo covers significantly more than the original CBD focus:
- CBD and hemp-derived cannabinoids: Tinctures, topicals, edibles, beverages
- Delta-8 THC and other intoxicating cannabinoids: Federally legal hemp-derived alternatives to traditional THC
- Kratom: Mitragyna speciosa products from Southeast Asian botanical
- Functional mushrooms: Lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps, and other adaptogenic mushroom supplements
- Nootropics and wellness: Cognitive enhancement and lifestyle products
Why the Rebrand?
The hemp-derived intoxicants market — particularly Delta-8 THC products — exploded after the 2018 Farm Bill, dwarfing the traditional CBD wellness market in many states. The "Alternative Products" name better reflects the actual marketplace at these events, which has more in common with smoke shops and convenience store chains than with traditional CBD wellness retailers.
